Philly DevOps is a user group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for individuals who believe in bridging the gap between development and operations.
Another year is coming to a close. Gather up your friends and coworkers and come by to kick back for a night with the Philly DevOps community.
There’s no speaker this month. So make some time to stop by for quality food, craft beers, and friendly DevOps conversations.17 Dec 2013, 7:00 PM @ City Tap House
Bring your laptops and join us as Dan Radez, from Red Hat shows us how to install and configure OpenStack. This presentation includes a demo of RDO and the opportunity for our meetup participants to install OpenStack on their laptops.
Philly DevOps is pairing up with OpenStack Philly for this month’s meetup so the venue is different. We are meeting at SunGard (401 N Broad Street, directly across from the Inquirer Building). When you enter the building, go through the glass doors right before the security desk. Then head upstairs to the Mezzanine level and check in with the SunGard security team.
In preparation for the meetup, please read and follow these instructions prior to the meetup.19 Nov 2013, 6:00 PM @ SunGard Availability Services
Docker has exploded in popularity since it was open sourced earlier this year. In this talk we’ll get you up and running with Docker, talk about how it works, its internals, and help you figure out where it might fit into your current environment.
We’ll discuss what exactly Docker containers are and the existing technologies Docker uses to build them. We’ll cover common use cases for Docker from CI to spinning up development environments. And we’ll touch on the future of Docker as it prepares for its 1.0 release later this fall.
Joe Winter is a programmer for Sungard Consulting Services, mostly building Ruby backend APIs.22 Oct 2013, 6:00 PM @ The Comcast Center
This month we’re doing something a little different. Instead of a single speaker we’ll have a panel of community members presenting lightning talks. Each talk will be limited to 10 minutes on a single topic. Come out and learn something about a variety of topics. There’ll be a little extra time for Q&A.
